Job Description
Ares is seeking an Associate Vice President (AVP) with subject matter expertise in the areas of operational risk and/ or third party risk management (“TPRM”) to join our Enterprise Risk Management (“ERM”) team. Within ERM, we strive to execute sound risk management strategies in support of the firm. The interaction with numerous groups and the range of projects that ensue provide for a challenging and multi-faceted work environment.
This position is responsible for managing and maturing all components of TPRM for the firm. This will entail working closely with ERM team members and collaborating cross-functionally with stakeholders to implement and deliver all components of the TPRM framework. In addition, the candidate will directly contribute to other risk related initiatives including broader operational risk initiatives, business continuity, operational and enterprise resilience, crisis management, and incident response.
Primary Functions and Essential Responsibilities
- Facilitate and conduct risk reviews as part of the TPRM lifecycle
- Maintain risk technology platforms
- Conduct ongoing monitoring for critical third party provider relationships
- Collaborate with ERM team members to manage and continuously mature the TPRM framework
- Collaborate with ERM team members to develop a risk framework for triggers and escalation for alerts from our third party risk surveillance tool
- Conduct detailed reviews of incidents and events to remediation
- Develop and implement a formal process for issue management and event tracking in our third party risk tool
- Coordinate with subject matter experts across the platform to incorporate key risk considerations into the TPRM framework
- Produce dashboard reporting
- Stay informed on industry trends and developments in operational risk and third party risk
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree
Experience and Skills Required:
- 7+ years of relevant experience
- Previous experience in operational risk and/ or third party risk management
- Experience with operational risk and/ or third party risk management frameworks is a plus
- General industry knowledge and experience from a financial services or investment/ wealth management organization is a plus
- Strong organizational, documentation, analytical, presentation, and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Proficiency with Salesforce and advanced visual analytics tools such as Tableau or PowerBI is preferred

Reporting Relationships
Compensation
The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.
$130,000.00 - $150,000.00
