The Team
The Philanthropic Partnerships team’s mission is to inspire and enable more informed and intentional generosity by all. Research has shown that generosity is a universal human impulse, but there is nothing natural about giving at scale or ensuring that philanthropic resources are channeled where they are needed most. PPT's strategy aims to close intent-to-action gaps and to increase giving that advances equity.The PPT team serves as a resource to those who want to achieve more with their giving and invests in organizations that help donors overcome common obstacles. We support programs that provide donors with resources to make informed decisions about giving, encourage innovations and policies that enable philanthropy, and build cultural norms around generosity.

As the Associate Program Officer (APO) for Data & Insights on our Philanthropic Partnerships team, you will support a data and insights (D&I) portfolio and strategy on charitable giving. You will assist with making grants and investments to partners who help make up this strategy. You will analyze and share data and insights from a range of sources to assist the PPT team and the sector broadly. You will coordinate and communicate data from partners, grantees and other providers back to the team to aid with strategic decision-making processes. You are creative, solutions-oriented, flexible and a strong teammate, skilled in collaboration. You are a good communicator, and you know not just how to express data but also its meaning and implications to others.
This role reports to the Senior Program Officer – Data & Insights, working a majority on D&I related projects, with some input on wider team projects as needed.
*This position is a limited-term (LTE) position for 36 months. Relocation will be provided.
What You’ll Do
Data Analysis and Management: Analyze, synthesize, and share relevant research on charitable giving from grantees and other providers for various audiences. Prepare and write briefs, slides, presentations, and email communications that summarize key findings and the strategic implications for internal and external audiences. Develop research and insights on the data related to the wider Foundation. Make recommendations about the implications of new findings for our work and the sector. Build and maintain systems that aid the team in accessing data and insights easily.
Grantmaking and Relationship Cultivation & Management: Manage a selection of grant and partner relationships in concert with the SPO. Conduct regular meetings with grantees, monitor and champion their progress, and communicate this progress back to the team. Research and vet new investment and collaboration opportunities. Serve as an excellent relationship manager, demonstrating the utmost respect and kindness for our grantees and partners.
Communication and Collaboration: Regularly communicate on progress, challenges, and opportunities across the scope of work with internal and external partners. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, communications, and operations, to ensure effective coordination. Contribute to discussions and planning sessions to inform the team’s overall strategic direction.
Your Experience
Bachelor’s or other advanced degree with 3+ years of experience, or equivalent experience. We value experience from paid, volunteer, and informal roles.
We are looking for an excellent analyst and project manager with the ability to work and communicate effectively with a variety of partners.
Demonstrated ability to work with, organize, and analyze data and develop insights from it (e.g., identifying issues, forming hypotheses, synthesizing conclusions, and helping to implement change).
Strong writing and verbal skills for communicating with a broad and diverse audiences.
Excellent attention to detail, systematic thinking and leading workflow while coordinating multiple priorities in a highly dynamic environment.
Demonstrated interest in or exposure to the nonprofit / charitable sector.
Belief in the power of leveraging philanthropic capital to reduce inequities
Comfort in a wide range of cultural, geographic, and operational situations, demonstrating culturally sensitive behavior with a diverse range of people
A sense of humor and flexibility to adapt to a very dynamic environment
Experience working with philanthropic or nonprofit data.
Experience working with or at organizations that are traditionally underfunded such as BIPOC lead, those with small budgets, and those working in marginalized communities
*Must be able to legally work in the country where this position is located without visa sponsorship.
Salary Range
The typical salary range for this role is $84,200 to $153,300 USD. The exact offer will be determined by a variety of factors such as the candidate’s individual skills, qualifications, and experience relative to the requirements of the role.
