Your Role

As the Human Resources Partner for one of the foundation’s division leadership teams, the Principal Human Resources Business Partner (PHRBP) collaborates with clients (e.g., Executive Leadership Team (ELT) member and senior leadership team) to translate business strategies and priorities into people and organizational strategies for their divisional portfolio. The PHRBP invests deeply to understand the people, the roles and the business strategies of the program or operational teams they support. They lead with a foundation orientation to develop human-centered solutions that integrate approaches to build organizational capability. Based on a deep understanding of the current and future needs of the business, the PHRBP partners with multiple team members - including business leaders, cross functional partners, the broader HRBP community and HR Center of Excellence (CoE) - to help shape, improve, and apply solutions (processes and programs) in service of functional, divisional and foundation priorities.

*This is a 10-month LTE opportunity located in Seattle only.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform as a strategic business partner to an Executive Leadership Team (ELT) member and their global leadership team and actively participate in business and strategy discussions with division leadership to influence and/or support with strategic human capital perspective

  • Develop division level solutions, based on deep understanding of the business priorities and strategies, to achieve equitable and inclusive outcomes (e.g. team effectiveness, organization design, process improvement, culture, talent and leadership planning, performance management, compensation and benefits, employee relations, workforce planning, etc).

  • Serve as trusted advisor to senior leaders by sharing feedback and solutions that enhance leadership capabilities, building organization capability and a high integrity culture.

  • Lead and influence talent assessment and performance management throughout the division, in support of driving a high integrity culture and strong DEI plans.

  • Establish effective relationships with key partners across the organization and facilitate cross functional communications to identify key issues and priorities as well as align on the local and systems level problems to be solved.

  • Effectively communicate, facilitate and lead core HR annual processes (such as annual review, talent review, leadership planning, etc.) using center driven processes and tools adapted for divisional portfolio.

  • Participate in transformative and continuous improvement projects and initiatives within Human Resources and across the foundation, in partnership with HRBP community and COE partners.

  • Engage with HR leadership to assess people relation trends and opportunities as well as proactively suggest solutions to address the root cause of certain issue

Your Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree or PhD in Business, Human Resources, or Organizational Psychology preferred

  • 10+ years of experience working in highly matrixed and/or global organizations preferred

  • SHRM-(S)CP, CHRP, or equivalent preferred

  • Proven record of proactively building, aligning and implementing a sustainable, equitable HR agenda that fuels business performance and organizational capability development.

  • Professional level ability to interface and influence optimally to drive transformation and growth with all levels of management and employees

  • Ability to mentor leaders in equitable decision making, inclusive behaviors and crucial conversations.

  • Outstanding collaborator and bridge-builder across divisions, functions and within human resources COEs.

  • Works with others openly and clearly to create an environment where diverse viewpoints are valued, and information is shared with others for the purposes of achieving a shared client experience goal.

  • Cultivates enabling conditions for talent to thrive and supports building an inclusive, high integrity culture throughout the organization.

  • Ability to distill multiple perspectives into a single solution

  • Strong leadership, emotional intelligence, business insight and advising skills.

The salary range for this role is $246,698 to $291,170 USD. We recognize high-wage market differences where our offices are located, in Seattle, Washington D.C., and Boston (Cambridge). The range for this role in these locations is $252,350 to $278,512 USD. As a mission-driven organization, we strive to balance competitive pay with our mission and new hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary range between the minimum and the midpoint salary range. Actual placement in the range will depend on a candidate’s job-related skills, experience, and expertise, as evaluated during the interview process.
