Blackstone is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual with excellent communications skills to join our Legal & Compliance team as an Analyst specializing in Data Policy and Strategy. This is an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively across multiple business groups and contribute to the firm's strategic approach to data initiatives and commitment to regulatory compliance in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. As a Legal & Compliance Data Policy and Strategy Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting the firm's compliance with global data protection and artificial intelligence regulations, as well as internal policies. You will assist in monitoring, analyzing, and implementing data protection frameworks, while contributing to the development and maintenance of compliance policies, procedures, and programs. This position is ideal for candidates with a strong interest in alternative data, artificial intelligence, regulatory compliance, and the asset management industry.
Core Responsibilities:
The Data Policy and Strategy Analyst will work on a wide range of legal and compliance matters within the Data Policy and Strategy team, with a focus on the firm’s acquisition and use of data assets, technology, and data platforms. Areas of responsibility are expected to include:
Assist in monitoring and ensuring compliance with data protection laws, artificial intelligence regulations (e.g., the EU AI Act), and other applicable regulatory frameworks.
Conduct compliance testing and audits to verify adherence to firm policies.
Support the review, implementation, and maintenance of the firm's data policies, processes, and standards.
Support compliance programs related to data acquisition, use, and distribution including maintaining data inventories and trackers for regulatory purposes.
Develop and deliver trainings on legal and compliance topics related to data science, artificial intelligence, alternative data, and data acquisition.
Manage communications with internal and external stakeholders to advance compliance initiatives.
Review data licensing terms, contracts, and due diligence responses.
Draft regulatory summaries, memos, logs, and meeting minutes.
Collaborate effectively with lawyers, compliance professionals, and business professionals within Blackstone and externally to achieve successful outcomes.
Provide broad support for the data and technology acquisition teams, ensuring alignment with applicable laws and regulations.
Assess current and future applicable legal and compliance developments and communicate these to legal, compliance, and business personnel.
Assist with other day-to-day legal and compliance matters and processes as needed.
Qualifications:
Blackstone seeks to hire individuals with a genuine desire to learn and expand their skillsets in a team-based setting within an ever-changing environment. Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:
Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a relevant field such as Law, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Administration, or a related discipline. JD preferred.
Experience at a law firm and/or in data governance, data protection, compliance, risk management, or a related field (including through work experience, internships, or academic projects); paralegal experience is a plus.
Basic understanding of data protection laws and regulations.
Understanding of cloud technology, SaaS environments, big data, and legal, regulatory and ethical aspects associated with algorithmic decision-making and machine learning.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with critical attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and follow-through.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with data management tools.
Works collaboratively in a team environment and manages multiple tasks simultaneously.
Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges in a fast-paced environment.

Expected annual base salary range:
$90,000 - $125,000Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.
Additional compensation: Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with the advertised role.
