THE POSITION

We’re looking for an experienced compliance professional to join FanDuel’s newly created Finance Operations function. This role will report to the Senior Finance Operations Manager in a hybrid role that will be based out of our New York City office. In this role, the Senior Finance Operations Associate will assist with satisfying all finance-related regulatory compliance obligations such as regulatory gaming tax matters, customer tax reporting and withholding matters, regulatory operational finance audits, and gaming regulator and partner relationship management. While specific experience with tax and finance related matters would be useful, a compliance professional with a desire to pursue professional growth in these areas would still be well positioned to succeed in this role.
In addition to the specific responsibilities outlined above, employees may be required to perform other such duties as assigned by the Company. This ensures operational flexibility and allows the Company to meet evolving business needs.
THE GAME PLAN
Everyone on our team has a part to play
- Own key elements of the wagering, gaming, daily fantasy sports, and other regulatory tax compliance and assist with other regulatory compliance matters
- Assist with the information reporting and withholding processes (i.e., Form 1099, 1042, and W-2G reporting) with a focus on improving the customer experience
- Play a key role in building strong working relationships with external regulators and partners while expanding integrations with various internal stakeholders
- Build/refine multifaceted workpapers and financial models
- Assist tax subject matter experts with a variety of regulatory, product, data, and technology initiatives
- Assist with tax notice resolution and tax controversy matters
- Liaise with international, federal, state, and local tax and regulatory authorities
- Collaborate, identify, and implement potential internal process improvements across the entire Finance organization and its wider sphere of influence
- Assist with the planning, documentation, and implementation of business controls with specific focus on the SOX control environment
- Contribute to a wide variety of tax and regulatory planning projects pertaining to all FanDuel products and business functions
- Identify opportunities to create and expand the use of AI, automation and other technologies throughout the entire Finance organization and work closely with the various Finance Technology teams to scope and deploy these technologies
- Assist with strategic workstreams that sit at the Executive Leadership level of the Finance organization

What we're looking for in our next teammate
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2-4 years of professional tax and/or compliance-related experience in a highly regulated industry (e.g., banking, telecom, pharma, etc.)
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrable commitment to cross-functional collaboration in pursuit of common company goals
- Data driven with the ability to bring strong analytical rigor to decision-making with a focus on getting to the right answer
- Strong desire to learn about new areas of finance and regulatory compliance (via internal trainings and continuing professional education courses)
- Creating and analyzing complex computation and reporting solutions, with the ability to clearly articulate findings to stakeholders in visual, verbal and written formats
- Excellent organizational skills and time/project management skills
- Must aspire to continually improve verbal and written communication skills and stakeholder management skills
- What would make our next teammate an all-star:
- Experience with technology, gaming, legal, sports, and/or media industry matters
- Experience with information reporting (i.e., Form 1099, 1042, W-2G, etc.) in any context
- Experience with public company reporting and SOX controls
- Working with large, complex data sets to build models and leverage data visualization tools to provide insights to stakeholder groups
- Utilizing data languages and data analytic tools to reduce hours and optimize processes
- Strong Excel skills with a desire to continually maintain and improve those skills

The applicable salary range for this position is $103,000 - $145,000 USD, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation. This role includes paid personal time off and 14 paid company holidays. FanDuel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
