Job Summary:

Reporting to the CIO, Hong Kong and China, the successful candidate will become responsible for managing HK/China equities within HK pension and MPF schemes. The successful candidate is expected to conduct own fundamental research to develop conviction, while leveraging and sharing research responsibilities with teams, generating investment ideas and recommendations to the Asian team. There are also opportunities to leverage research at our China JV, Invesco Great Wall. The candidate is expected to deliver consistent alpha and competitive peer ranking over rolling 3 years based on a benchmark-aware approach to portfolio construction.

The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate proven track record and experience managing HK/China equities for HK pensions and institutional clients. He/she should be able to clearly articulate a robust investment philosophy and process. He/ she is expected to be a highly effective communicator who, with the support of our Client Portfolio Managers, can build/strengthen relationships of trust with key internal and external stakeholders, including local pension and institutional investors, consultants and distributors. He/she is expected to be a team player to help further strengthen Invesco’s pension franchise, and exemplify the values and culture of Invesco.

Key Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Fund management responsibilities focusing on HK pension funds, investing in HK/Chinese and China A-share equities.
  • Conduct in-depth fundamental research and analysis on HK/Chinese equities, to determine investment merits and risks. The objective is to add consistent alpha over rolling 3 year periods versus benchmarks while remaining competitive versus peers.
  • Participate in internal portfolio review meetings and external meetings with clients, pension investors, pension committees and consultants to discuss investment process, review performance & risk of portfolios, review strategy, outlook, active bets and portfolio changes.
  • Work closely with CPM, sales and clients to grow pension AUM and pitch for new business. Be mindful of opportunities to develop new products and mandates.
  • Work closely with Asia investment team and to a lesser extent with our JV partner, Invesco Great Wall, to leverage research, find new investment opportunities, implement buy/sell discipline and construct portfolios based on clients’ return and risk objectives.

Minimum Qualification:

  • A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Finance / Accounting / Economics or related discipline
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience in being an analyst and portfolio manager of pension assets.
  • Proven strong performance track record in stock picking, portfolio construction and generating risk-adjusted performance.
  • Strong writing and communications skills in English, Mandarin and Cantonese, Chinese a must.
  • Strong cross-cultural and interpersonal skills with proven ability to build trust and relationships.
  • Considers the ultimate impact of decisions and actions on internal and external customers.
