KKR REAL ESTATE CREDIT AND K-STAR INVESTMENT SERVICES OVERVIEW
KKR Real Estate Credit was formed in January 2015 to invest in real estate credit products and complement KKR Real Estate’s private equity platforms. Within KKR Real Estate Credit, we seek opportunities where we have a sourcing, underwriting or execution advantage by leveraging KKR’s brand, industry knowledge and relationships. KKR Real Estate Credit currently invests through six separately capitalized vehicles across our Direct Lending and Securities portfolios and consists of 50+ dedicated professionals based in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas and London.
K-Star Asset Management LLC ("K-Star") was formed in 2022 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of KKR. K-Star is a dedicated investment services platform that supports underwriting, asset management, loan origination, securities investing, risk management, and client experience for KKR Real Estate Credit as it continues to scale. The K-Star team includes industry specialists in special servicing, asset management, due diligence, and loan closing, among other functional areas. POSITION OVERVIEW
K-Star Asset Management is seeking a Human Capital Business Partner to be based in the Dallas, TX location. While the role will primarily focus on supporting US based employees, given the global matrix structure in which we operate, there will also be a need to coordinate with Human Capital colleagues
RESPONSIBILITIES
This role will be responsible for ensuring day-to-day execution and Human Capital support for the K-Star team. Key activities will include:
- Engage and manage relationships across a broad internal client group – including senior management and employees.
- Provide general Human Capital support and guidance to managers and employees in the areas of performance management and feedback, objective setting, coaching, employee relations and documentation, compensation, and organizational development.
- Oversee and execute on key year-end processes, including compensation, bonus allocations and adjustments, promotions, talent reviews and performance management.
- Assist leadership in creation of organizational charts and career development plans for the K-Star employee base. Facilitate strategic working groups to support the establishment of new business lines and teams in relation to firm growth.
- Partner closely with business leaders, Finance and Compensation to manage headcount tracking, approvals and budgeting on an ongoing basis. This will include preparation of data and analytics for strategic meetings and presentations.
- Liaise with other departments within and outside of Human Capital (i.e., People Analytics, Compensation, Benefits, Talent Development, Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Finance and Legal) as necessary to support the business.
- Participate in the implementation of Human Capital policies, programs, practices, and processes and communicating so employees and managers clearly understand purpose and expectations.
- Manage recruitment activities including preparation and management of interview decision tree and process, search firm selection, screening resumes and candidates for cultural fit and compensation alignment, interview schedule coordination, case study administration, feedback collection, offer letter creation and new-hire onboarding.
- Manage campus recruiting program for full-time and internship hires – implement campus strategy, plan target school events, coordinate interviews, manage offer process and for intern and early career hires.
- Partner with KKR Talent Acquisition on Greenhouse applicant tracking system utilization and prepare and maintain a database of all K-Star hiring.
- Support the facilitation of K-STAR training programs across various levels of our employee population (i.e. Wall Street Prep technical training targeted at interns/analysts; Manager Essentials for new managers, etc.)
- Effectively address employee relations issues, partnering with Legal and Employee Relations as needed to conduct investigations and separations.
- Manage all immigration cases within the teams, as applicable.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 7 to 10 years of Human Capital Business Partner or HR generalist experience, or other relevant HR experience, preferably at a global financial services firm.
- Strong client and commercial focus with outstanding judgement and strong influencing skills.
- Clear intellectual curiosity with the drive and potential to succeed in a fast-paced work environment, having shown comfort with the ambiguity of an evolving, dynamic firm.
- Strong execution and project management skills – highly organized, very detail oriented, proactive problem- solver, solutions-oriented, and a knack for anticipating obstacles and addressing issues early.
- Proven track record of managing simultaneous processes, prioritizing a heavy workload and working across/coordinating among multiple functions within an organization.
- Self-starter – someone who “rolls up his/her sleeves and gets things done”; has high energy; a strong work ethic; displays the ability to work independently; be creative; and entrepreneurial.
- Displays maturity, excellent attitude, outstanding judgment, critical thinking, sensitivity and creativity to changing needs and situations.
- Acts professionally regarding sensitive subjects and maintains confidentiality while exercising discretion at all times.
- Solid interpersonal and relationship-building skills – can effectively develop trusted relationships with many constituents, build credibility quickly, and partner effectively with others.
