Sector Specialist Originator (Equity Research)

Based in New York, the Sector Specialist Originator candidate will report to the Head of Specialist and Corporate Access Origination and be responsible for growing Millennium’s corporate engagement and corporate access efforts. The ideal candidate has an existing rolodex of corporate relationships and has a proven track record of success in origination and building relationships with company IR officers and management teams.

Principal Responsibilities

• Analyze company, industry and macro trends with a focus on delivering high quality investment insights on a global basis
• Maintain existing and establish new corporate relationships via consistent interactions with key companies (c. 250 interactions per year)
• Build and strengthen relationships with Millennium investment professionals to understand their needs and requirements to factor into a corporate engagement program
• Partner with the Head of Specialist and Corporate Access Origination to develop a strategic plan to target and to strengthen Millennium’s relationships (C-Level, Investor Relations, etc.)
• Increase the supply and quality of corporate access opportunities and serve as a point of contact/entry with company management teams to request and to secure meetings for Millennium’s investment professionals
• Enhance investment analysis and coverage of companies, including the analysis of various sources such as public documents, interaction management teams, the sell-side and industry experts
• Lead, host or participate in Millennium corporate access meetings and generate proprietary content and analysis for investment professionals
• Partner closely with other Millennium business areas including ECM, Corporate Access Strategy, Branding and Communications to advance Millennium’s overall corporate access, branding and positioning efforts
• Make proactive corporate access suggestions based on company coverage to curate differentiated corporate access events and interactions
• Attend and present at events where corporates and investors are present, including IR education events, conferences and trade shows
• Represent Millennium in a senior and compelling manner and ensuring a positive corporate experience and perception
• Implement and leverage technology solutions to document and enhance the management of originated corporate access interactions

Qualifications/Skills Required

• Proven track record of experience within financial services, specifically Equity Research, Origination or Investor Relations
• Existing rolodex of corporate relationships
• Knowledge of trends, best practices, and developments in the corporate and IR community
• A solid understanding of markets, securities and investment strategies
• Ability to effectively engage with data, efficiently conduct in-depth research and expediently process and synthesize information
• Ability to develop relationships with investment professionals to gain an understanding of their needs as an investor
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
• Flexibility to work both independently and to thrive in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, results-oriented environment
• Strong client/customer service orientation with consistent follow through

The estimated base salary range for this position is $160,000 to $250,000, which is specific to New York and may change in the future. Millennium pays a total compensation package which includes a base salary, discretionary performance bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package. When finalizing an offer, we take into consideration an individual’s experience level and the qualifications they bring to the role to formulate a competitive total compensation package.
