JOB SUMMARY: This position will be responsible for managing all aspects of hockey programming for the facility. They will propose innovative and developmentally appropriate in-house hockey programs that promote the company’s brand and align with USA Hockey’s American Development Model (ADM). This position is not eligible for remote work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Serve as the in-house lead for all on-ice clinics, camps, training programs, and practices including the Dallas Stars Metro Hockey League (DSMHL), Senior Stars Hockey League (SSHL), etc.
- Lead the DSMHL by managing all elements of team formation, practice clustering, season scheduling, etc.
- Manage all written and verbal correspondence and communication to all clinic, camp, and program participants
- Develop a clear player development pathway beginning with Rookies programs and progressing through advanced leagues for both youth and adults
- Recruit, evaluate, and manage both volunteer and paid sub-contracted coaches for all practices, games, camps, and clinics
- Handle administrative tasks including managing timecards for assigned employees, tracking player participation, maintaining schedules, distributing weekly practice plans, etc.
- Work directly with the scorekeepers and the official’s coordinator to schedule scorekeepers and referees for all games
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Resolve and respond to all customer questions, concerns, and complaints in a timely manner
- Serve as the liaison between all program participants and USA Hockey
- Organize professional development opportunities and resources for coaches to enhance their skills and knowledge
- Serve as a member of the DSMHL or SSHL Committee and manage responsibilities as finalized by the Committee
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Extensive experience in playing and coaching hockey, with a deep understanding of USA Hockey’s ADM principles
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude with a willingness to learn
- Proven organizational and time management skills with excellent attention to detail
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently and as a team player
- Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and special events
Physical Demands and Working Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle objects and office tools, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is exposed to an office environment, with noise levels usually moderate.
