Job Title: Senior Analyst / Junior Associate – Energy & Power
Division: Global Advisory
Location: London
Overview of Role
The Rothschild & Co Energy & Power advisory franchise has a market leading global presence, with more than 50 senior bankers and focused Energy & Power teams across six continents, and has advised on c.US$150bn of Energy & Power deals globally in the past three years. The Energy & Power team covers all aspects of the energy and power market supply chains, from upstream and midstream to downstream and oilfield services on the energy side through to renewables, conventional power generation, waste, the circular economy, networks and energy transition technologies on the power side.
We provide impartial, expert advice to large and mid-sized corporations, private equity funds, families and entrepreneurs, and governments. We design and execute strategic M&A and financing solutions for our clients and act as a trusted partner, taking a long-term and independent view on the challenges they face.
Our deep understanding of financial markets, the high volume of transactions we advise on, and our unrivalled network of industry and financing specialists in 40 countries, provide clients with a comprehensive perspective to achieve their strategic goals. Responsibilities
- Work on multiple transactions and with multiple project teams simultaneously on all critical aspects of transactions, ranging from client development and initial opportunity evaluation to transaction strategy and execution
- Lead the preparation of financial and economic analyses and preparation of complex financial models required for evaluating and completing such transactions
- Use a range of valuation techniques to support client advice including discounted cash flows, trading comps analysis, transaction comps analysis, and LBO-based valuations
- Preparation of client presentations, teasers, information memoranda and offering documents for a range of transaction types
- Researching relevant industries to support the wider team’s marketing initiatives, optimising various sources of information
- Contribute content to pitch books by conducting ad-hoc analysis;
- Update industry databases and credentials
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree: 2.1 or above
Experience, Skills and Competencies Required
- Prior experience in an advisory or investment banking role
- Proven quantitative and analytical skills to develop financial models and valuations with a deep understanding of financial statement analysis
- Experience leading client presentations, managing projects and the execution of transactions, including leading of several workstreams independently and in parallel
- Ability to simultaneously manage several projects in an extremely fast paced environment in order to meet critical client deadlines
- Knowledge of the relevant financial and regulatory environments that surrounds M&A
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
- Ability to provide direction and leadership in order to build a strong team environment and to build effective relationships between individuals, teams and lines of business, across different geographies
- Ability to build long-term, professional relationships that add value to the client and lead to the expansion of the business
- Aptitude for ongoing personal and professional development
