Rothschild & Co – Procurement Department
The Group Procurement function helps the business successfully buy goods and services, ensuring qualified suppliers are selected, value for money is secured, robust contracts are agreed, and any risks are understood and mitigated.
We ensure adherence to evolving regulatory guidance and reflect the group’s desire to manage third parties in a consistent manner. The team works alongside Third-Party Relationship Sponsors (principal business owners) to select, onboard, manage and offboard third parties.
Role Overview
Rothschild & Co is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Third-Party Risk Manager to join our Global Procurement team. This person will work closely with business sponsors, internal subject matter experts, third parties and the local Finance team. They will complete our regular Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) processes for new engagements and recertify existing vendors. They will contribute towards Rothschild & Co’s regulatory obligations regarding the use of both outsourced services and information and communication technology (ICT) third parties. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with the EU’s Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) and EBA/FINMA's supervisory regulations.
Additionally, the role involves developing and implementing strategic sourcing strategies aimed at cost reduction and consolidation. The ideal candidate should possess extensive experience and knowledge in the sourcing process, particularly in key spend categories. They will be adept at negotiating terms that benefit Rothschild & Co and effectively mitigate third-party risks.
The role is based in Zurich, with a dual reporting line to both Global Procurement and local Finance.
Responsibilities
- Support effective and efficient assurance and onboarding of new vendors and assurance of existing vendors, through completion of the group’s TPRM-related processes.
- Ensure alignment between vendor assurance activities and subsequent contractual content, in collaboration with Procurement, Legal and Information Security and other SME’s.
- Take ownership of the group’s third-party regulatory registers (DORA, EBA/FINMA); ensure the data is accurate and maintained.
- Deploy strategies to drive cost reductions and supplier consolidation throughout the company.
- Lead sourcing initiatives, develop strategies for commodities or categories, provide vendor and market analysis, conduct financial analysis, identify sourcing alternatives, develop savings methodologies, engage stakeholders, and assist with implementation.
- Develop RFP methodology and bidding process to ensure optimal pricing and service for the Switzerland and Germany region while supporting the broader Global Procurement team on any global initiatives.
- Monitor and review third-party compliance to the group’s assurance activities on an ongoing basis. Identify any risks or non-compliance that could potentially impact the firm.
- Support the Global Head of Procurement in managing vendor due diligence and contract renewals for Switzerland and Germany, complete internal documentation, and gather necessary metrics for reporting.
- Collaborate with internal subject matter experts, including IT, Legal, and Compliance, to address third-party risks.
- Assist with the preparation and presentation of reports on third-party risk assessments and compliance status to senior management.
- Provide advice and guidance to colleagues on the full spectrum of third party-related matters, including acting as an escalation point and helping resolve issues.
Beyond these responsibilities, there will be opportunities to advance agendas of interest that we agree would benefit the Group and contribute to the Procurement team’s plans to leverage the latest technologies.
Experience
The successful applicant will have at least 4 years’ experience in Strategic Sourcing and TPRM, ideally in the financial services sector or other regulated industries. An analytical and conscientious approach to your work, being comfortable with data, process, and systems, and a high level of personal productivity are essential.
The candidate should be comfortable negotiating with third parties to comply with due diligence and assurance requirements, have a service ethos, and be able to flex the style depending on the experience and expectations of different stakeholders. As part of a small team, it is important that the candidate is willing to work on anything third-party related that becomes a priority.
