The role

The Category Manager secures supply and delivers cost efficiency and additional value in sourcing programs by developing and executing category strategies by having an expert view on business demands and supplier market and aligns them with SoFi’s internal business needs.

This role will report to the Head of Procurement and he/she will be responsible for leading the development of long term category strategies for third party supplier spend, executing sourcing projects (competitive bids, single-source negotiations, etc.), and renewal management thru supplier contracting. This role will be distributed among several top spend categories and strategic initiatives in tune with the needs across all our Business Units. This position requires an experienced sourcing manager, familiar with software and SaaS licensing, general commercial terms, labor and material based services and risk complexity.

What you’ll do:

  • Support development and execution of multi-year category and supplier spend management strategies for top spend across SoFi. Socialize and obtain sign-off for the category strategies from relevant Business Units leadership
  • Segment spend and provide strategies according to value and impact, such as direct negotiation or self-service materials and procedures for the business to follow
  • Support the Supplier Lifecycle activities to ensure that all purchases are compliant with our internal policies and procedures
  • Conduct in-depth cost and spend analysis to develop target savings & cost reduction initiatives
  • Complete the following activities for material sourcing events, as appropriate: ● Work with business partners, business leaders and stakeholders to define requirements
  • Research and identify qualified candidate suppliers
  • Adhere and enforce our internal policies, lead RFX process according to the established SoFi Procurement procedures
  • Lead commercial term negotiations
  • Co-lead the contract development process with the SoFi Legal team
    • Partner and collaborate with:
  • SoFi Procurement team
  • In-house Legal, Risk, Information Security and Finance teams
  • Identify new service opportunities that address or anticipate business partners needs
  • Partner with suppliers to ensure that SoFi becomes an strategic client and first to access market innovation

What you’ll need:

  • College degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Economics, Supply Chain or related field
  • At least seven years of experience in Indirect Procurement, tech or fintech industry preferred
  • Relevant experience in the Saas, Technology, Financial Services and Professional Services categories with exceptional delivered results
  • Passionate about customer service and provide value to the company
  • Ability to deal with change and ambiguity effectively
  • Comfortable with data analytics to obtain insights and provide direction on the category strategies (Market research, business intelligence, etc)
  • Change Management: experience and proven ability to drive change with management direction but without having to be prescribed to
  • Project Management: ability to develop, plan and execute projects and create remediation plans and actions with timely updates to management
  • Effective -and efficient- negotiation skills focused on savings, adding value and reducing risk
  • Legal Acumen: strong understanding and proven experience in interpreting and executing complex legal Master Agreements and Service Schedules. Contracting experience in the areas of marketing, advertising, software licensing, software as a service licensing, financial services and technology professional services is preferred
  • Tech savvy in Google Suite, MSFT Office, Workday, Coupa, contract lifecycle management systems, etc
  • Executive gravitas
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Team player

The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, and location.
