The Role:
We’re looking for a seasoned and proactive Physical Security Manager to lead all aspects of physical security operations at our Manhattan, New York office. This in-person (M-F), high-impact role is critical to ensuring the safety and security of SoFi’s people, assets, and operations.
Reporting to the Head of Global Security & Investigations, you’ll be a key leader within the Global Security & Investigations Team, playing a vital role in strategic planning, vendor management, executive protection, incident response, conducting investigations, coordinating with law enforcement / emergency responders and daily security operations.
This role requires exceptional judgment, strong technical acumen, and the ability to navigate a fast-paced, high-growth environment. You will be on-call 24/7 for emergencies involving security incidents, health or medical situations, and threats to SoFi personnel or property.
What You’ll Do:
- Help define and execute the long-term vision, strategy, and roadmap for Physical Security in alignment with company goals.
- Manage third-party security vendors, including contracted third party security personnel, integration partners, and software platforms.
- Provide executive protection support for SoFi leadership during travel and public engagements as needed.
- Act as a liaison to local, state, and federal law enforcement on matters of physical security and financial crime.
- Identify, vet, and deploy emerging security technologies to improve operational capability and situational awareness.
- Build and maintain relationships with key industry and intelligence groups (ASIS, SIA, CISA, DSAC, etc.) to stay ahead of evolving threats.
- Respond swiftly and effectively to threats against SoFi personnel or property, coordinating response efforts with law enforcement as necessary.
- Act as a liaison to fire rescue / emergency response personnel.
- Lead internal and external audit support efforts (e.g., FED, OCC, Deloitte) for all physical security-related matters.
- Oversee the access control lifecycle process, including creation, troubleshooting, termination, and audit-ready recordkeeping.
- Manage the Physical Security budget and ensure timely processing of all invoices.
- Lead company-wide security training programs, including active shooter response, de-escalation, workplace violence prevention, and emergency preparedness.
- Maintain security system standards and assist with all physical security hardware and software installations as required.
- Develop clear, actionable security status reports and visuals for senior leadership.
- Ensure timely completion and accurate tracking of all security-related projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners including Facilities, Network Engineering, InfoSec, HR, Finance, Risk, and Operations.
- Partner with Cybersecurity to secure cloud based and on-premise physical security systems.
- Lead investigations into security incidents, including threats, thefts, injuries, and financial crimes.
- Draft and propose new security procedures and standards for Physical Security Leadership review.
- Support emergency preparedness by partnering with Site Leadership Teams on drills, disaster plans, and tabletop exercises.
- Assist in conducting sensitive investigations as deemed appropriate by the Head of Global Security & Investigations.
- Drive the strategic direction of incident response planning and execution.
- Coordinate with property management and onsite security teams across all leased office locations.
What you’ll need:
- 10+ years of experience in Law Enforcement or Global Corporate Security.
- High level of discretion and integrity; proven ability to handle confidential matters.
- Strong working knowledge of modern physical security systems and technologies.
- Expertise in emergency response protocols, workplace safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to executive stakeholders.
- Proven success managing projects and collaborating across cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to travel and be on call as needed to support global security operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field.
- 5+ years managing security operations in a corporate or global setting.
- Expertise in access control and surveillance technologies, Genetec certified is a plus.
- Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) designation strongly preferred.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) or instructional content development.
- Intimate working knowledge of the Google Suite.
- Spanish language proficiency strongly preferred.
- Prior service in the military, special operations, or federal law enforcement is highly valued.
