We are seeking a seasoned enterprise social marketing leader to drive the integration of social marketing within the Starbucks business, evolve our approach to campaigns and digital activation, and unlock new and unexpected ways to engage our customers.

Your expertise includes integrated brand campaigns, social media platforms, social listening tools and platforms, but you care most about connecting in genuine ways with customers.

The group marketing manager, social campaigns and activations is a customer-minded leader ready to propel Starbucks into an innovative future. You will lead a team responsible for helping creative teams take a connection- and culture-forward approach to go-to-market strategies.

As a group manager, Social Campaigns & Activations, you will…

  • Lead a team developing social marketing plans -- including content strategies and campaign blueprints -- with an emphasis on driving engagement with multi-faceted audiences.
  • Define social strategy for cross-functional initiatives, including influencer programs, brand activations, and real-time engagement.
  • Deliver clear direction and inspiration to creative teams and oversee creative development to ensure content fulfills social strategy.
  • Collaborate with paid media team on paid social approach and social campaign requirements.
  • Direct social reporting leaders to provide analysis of results, including strategic and tactical recommendations that are directly related to insights.
  • Identify opportunities in current and emerging social channels to drive traffic, relevance, and human connection for the business.
  • Always innovate to fulfill company goals and campaigns, ensuring social marketing efforts meet business and brand objectives while growing brand relevance.
  • Develop and communicate key responsibilities and practices to ensure the team of direct reports has the direction they need to succeed, confidence in leadership, and the teamwork necessary to achieve business results.
  • Provide clear direction and inspiration to agencies and internal teams in developing inventive, relevant, and engaging content – encouraging innovation, driving channel growth, and evolving at the speed of social.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to build strong relationships, provide social best practices, and deliver work that raises the bar.
  • Stay current on social media and interactive marketing trends and drive innovation by elevating Starbucks’s approach to social media.

We’d love to hear from people with:

  • Social/digital marketing experience leading campaigns for large brands and/or digital agencies (7 - 10 years).
  • Knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities.
  • Deep understanding of established and emerging social platforms. Ability to generate original ideas and collaborate across functions to develop impactful, innovative campaigns.
  • Strong understanding of secondary research and listening tools. Able to assimilate information and champion insights across the organization, driving strategy and optimizing tactics.
  • Management of people and teams.
  • Concise, compelling communicator, persuasive and articulate. Able to answer difficult questions clearly and provide support for executive presentations.
  • Ability to think strategically and provide clear guidance for strategy development.
  • Ability to gain alignment and buy-in cross-functionally across a range of audiences and stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity with tight timelines.
  • Strong knowledge of social platform capabilities.
  • Strategic and consumer-minded approach to social media.
  • Experience managing agencies.
  • Strong, positive people manager; understanding of operational management, talent development, and corporate processes.
  • Genuine desire to learn and push boundaries and embrace fresh thinking in a dynamic customer landscape and business environment.

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
