Position Purpose:

The Investment Allocation Analyst assists in the daily portfolio management of Multi-Asset portfolios. These responsibilities include but are not limited to daily cash flow management and rebalancing trade activity along with reviewing strategic & tactical allocations to ensure adherence to investment objectives. The Investment Allocation Analyst also prepares custom analysis in support of portfolio design and helps determine and implement tactical allocations across multi-asset portfolios. This role may also partner with Portfolio Managers and other investment personnel in the production of internal and external written and analytical content for clients and prospects.

Principle Responsibilities:

Portfolio Management & Trading

  • Provide daily oversight of multi-asset portfolio positioning
  • Leverage Asset Allocation Committee decisions to determine portfolio specific tactical allocations, taking into consideration individual portfolio structure and objectives
  • Direct cash flows strategically among underlying holdings with an understanding of market liquidity and structure
  • Initiate discretionary rebalancing trades to position portfolios in line with desired tactical allocations, while minimizing the impact to underlying investment teams
  • Coordinate trading activity with the Investment and Trading Solutions group and underlying investment teams
  • Partner with other investment teams, portfolio managers, Multi-Asset Solutions team, and Investment Liaisons to develop implementation plans for new portfolios and new investment sleeves within existing portfolios
  • Evaluate the role of derivatives and other complex securities within asset allocation portfolios and partner with the securities trading desks to implement efficiently

Investment Research & Analysis

  • Prepare custom analysis in support of portfolio design for new portfolios and enhancements to existing portfolios
  • Partner with the Multi-Asset Solutions Group and portfolio managers in the design efforts related to the growing custom solutions business
  • Collaborate with equity & fixed income investment teams in ongoing implementation of customized strategies
  • Provide validation of portfolio return attribution results and consistency of investment process across portfolios
  • Service ad hoc investment related requests from portfolio management and distribution channels

Ongoing Portfolio Support

  • Serve as an investment subject matter expert in multi-asset related product management and operational initiatives
  • Partner with Operations and Technology teams to set-up portfolio attributes within required systems
  • Collaborate with Global Technology teams to implement strategic technical solutions surrounding the asset allocation portfolio management process
  • Provide oversight on internal statistics reporting related to asset allocation cash flows, client activity, assets under management, and other metrics

Qualifications:

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or related field
  • Completion of or progress towards CFA or comparable designation or a commitment to obtain the CFA charter in the future
  • Substantial experience in the investment management industry
  • Ability to clearly articulate complex financial concepts
  • Experience in a T. Rowe Price operational and/or transactional related role
  • Ability to use analytical tools to gather information for client communications and to think independently and proactively about how to best convey information
  • Strong project management skills and an ability to manage multiple tasks & projects simultaneously
  • High degree of intellectual curiosity
  • Ability to establish rapport and credibility quickly
  • Possesses a positive, problem-solving oriented attitude to both external and internal interactions

Required

  • BA/BS degree in Finance or related major, with strong credentials and minimum 3 years relevant work experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communications and inter-personal skills with the ability to excel in a dynamic and interactive team environment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team
