Sr. Clinical Strategy Director, Mental Health and Wellbeing

The Sr. Clinical Strategy Director for Mental Health and Wellbeing is responsible for driving the mental health strategy for Teladoc and for the clinical quality and patient safety function within Mental/Behavioral Health. This will encompass the complete spectrum of our offerings ranging from video visits with psychiatrists and therapists to digital and coaching solutions, on a national/international scale. Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, the Sr. Director will develop and execute Teladoc Health’s macro strategy for prevention and management of these areas, with Teladoc Health’s assets. We are seeking a PhD in Psychology or M.D/D.O in Psychiatry with a combination of clinical as well as corporate strategy experience, and data/ technology acumen to define the why, what and how of this strategy. In collaboration with Clinical Quality, Clinical Operations, Product and other stakeholders, the Sr. Director will design, develop or enhance clinical offerings and other capabilities that would enable Teladoc to create the highest-quality, patient-centric solutions within this domain.

You will provide tremendous value in this role by monitoring, interpreting, and incorporating advances in clinical medicine, clinical quality and patient safety, data science, and technology that will enable even greater value from Teladoc’s solutions, by working with internal partner functions. Navigating, leveraging and aligning cross functional partners while proposing and driving new initiatives will be among the Clinical Strategist’s core responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess healthcare market and customer data as well as emerging trends to determine critical unmet needs and opportunities on which to focus.

  • Continually innovate on the clinical science behind solution(s) within the mental health domain and service offering.

  • Responsible for ensuring that the planned clinical activities are well-aligned with the commercial strategies.

  • Connect across all Teladoc, partner, and customer assets to create and tailor solutions.

  • Work with Marketing, Finance, Sales and other stakeholders to develop and execute the right go to market strategies and business models. Specifically, must be able to interpret commercial significance of various clinical strategy and framework options.

  • Identify and build partnerships necessary for solution completeness and success, working with the business development team.

  • Provide clinical input into cross functional strategies and initiatives.

  • Serve as a strategic partner to sales and commercial teams and engage in strategic customer and partner conversations.

  • Determine applications of solutions for international markets.

Qualifications:

**PhD in Psychology required; MD or DO in Psychiatry highly valued in addition to: 1) previous experience in mental health/well-being strategy creation for a large-scale care delivery organization. 2) experience working with evidence based clinical quality improvement and patient safety, in the mental health space.

5+ years managing evidence based, quality improvement programs in mental health

  • 5+ years of clinical strategy experience, specifically in mental/behavioral health required, as well as experience applying data science and technology in the healthcare space.
  • Deep knowledge of the US healthcare system, the payer landscape, and digital health industry.
  • Strategic thinking with ability to instill confidence among internal teams and work cross-functionally
  • Strong background in mental health and wellbeing clinical sciences, evidence building and the necessary steps to changing the standard of care.
  • Must have the demonstrated previous ability to interact with strategic marketing, clinical teams, corporate finance, and IT.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, with a genuine passion for personal interaction and professional collaboration.
  • Ability to thoroughly and compellingly communicate important clinical details to diverse non-clinician audiences and listen to and address their feedback and priorities.
  • Flexible and able to pivot and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

The base salary range for this position is $174,000 - $249,000. In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible for performance bonus, RSU’s, and benefits (subject to eligibility requirements) listed here: Teladoc Health Benefits 2023. Total compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to, type of position, location, education level, work experience, and certifications. This information is applicable for all full-time positions.
